It's Not Too Late to Help!
Forty people came together on October 15th to discuss substance use in Tioga County. We had youth from Owego Free Academy and Candor High School join us to help deliver the presentation, brainstorm root causes, and talk about solutions.
The main substances discussed were alcohol, marijuana, prescription drugs, and vaping. Some of the main community concerns expressed were parents providing alcohol and marijuana to kids, vaping everywhere (school, cars, social events), Fake IDs, and overdose.
The next step is for coalition members to review the information we gathered at the forum and start forming action plans to address the top priority areas.
The next coalition meeting will be 11/19/19 at 1pm located at the Health and Human Services Building in Owego, NY. We invite anyone who loves or works in Tioga County and is interested in substance use and the surrounding issues to join us.
